Many times our body does a very good job of warning us of impending illnesses or diseases – such as having a cough, a blocked nose or a rash. That being said, there are many more symptoms that you may overlook because they are not well known.
Knowing these symptoms could probably save you from different trips to the doctors, and might even support you catch and treat a problem before it becomes serious.
Here are a few examples that suggest you could be infected, but remember not to panic and contact a GP with any concerns…
1. Body Nipple changes
It’s very important that both men and women keep an eye on their breasts so that they can figure any nipple changes – it’s not just women who can promote breast cancer and other breast-related illnesses. We all know that we should be feeling for lumps in our breasts, but another sign of cancer, which is often neglected, is changes to the appearance of the breast.
The nipple, for example, can become dimpled, it can invert or there might even be discoloration of the skin.
These changes don’t naturally mean you have breast cancer, but it is very important that you go to your health adviser to get yourself checked out. It is always better to be intact than guilt.
2. Body Swelling legs
It’s common for us to identify pain in the leg with a pulled muscle or injure, but many people don’t realize that if your pain is paired with swelling then it is important you call your family doctor or visit the nearest hospital immediately.
Swelling in the leg when paired with pain or sensitivity can be produced by deep vein thrombosis (DVT). This is a blood clot located in the lower leg or thigh and if left untreated it can be lead to serious injury and can even be fatal.
3. A Erratic Tongue
If you look at that you have dry, white patches on your tongue that form odd shapes this can actually be a sign of Coeliac disease, a disorder which begin the body to damage itself when trying to consume gluten.
If you have patches on the tongue this odd symptom, along with diarrhoea, vomiting or weight loss.
visit your family doctor and get tested.
4. Distinct pupils
If you have had distinct pupils from the day you were born, then you have nothing to be concerned about. The issue is if you notice that your pupils have changed to become permanently distinct or dilated.
Distinct or dilated pupils can be a sign of many conditions, some more serious than others, e.g. an aneurysm, a hemorrhage or even meningitis. Make remarks of any other symptoms, if you do notice a change when you look in the mirror, and urgently either call 111 for their advice or get down to your local A&E.
5. Body Chills
Chills are bound to happen, especially when the weather is unpleasant or you have a fever, but if you notice that you’ve been getting usual unexplained chills with no sign of the flu then you might have hypothyroidism.
An underactive thyroid can mean that the cells in your body aren’t consuming much energy. When this takes place, your body generates less heat, which can lead to chills. If you cannot tolerate the cold weather as well as those around you, and you are also having frequent chills, visit a doctor and explain your symptoms.
