Everyone has a smartphone, cool right? It is almost an oxygen mask for us, to keep us living and doing anything and everything, is it? Or perhaps is it just in our heads that we can’t live without it? When looking at it logically, we obviously have a lot of things to do which can only be done by our phone such as weather updates, email notifications, staying connected with people far away from us, helps us keep track of our day to day activities, alarm clocks that are our only source for waking up from that deep sleep, etc.

Therefore, yes we “need” a phone BUT, can a phone give us inner peace? Can a phone put love in our hearts for people? Can a phone help us enjoy the smallest of moments such as a cool breeze, a sunset, counting the stars? No, it cannot! The following article discusses some great reasons why we need to keep our phones away sometimes to live a healthy and worthy life rather than just living in a made-up and fake world.

Fewer distractions

A constantly vibrating phone is the number one blockage between you and your work. Hence, stay away from your phone while working otherwise either you cannot complete your work or you are less productive in what you do and end up in an average result when you could have actually given your best shot and great quality work, or everything is good but your work just delays to a great extent. Whatever it may be, working on something along with your phone always results in underperformance.

Peace and quiet

Sometimes it is necessary to be out in open and feel the fresh air listening to the birds chirping and observing people and the roads and wondering about life. You need this sort of peace of mind in life and go back to some old days when the only thing we looked forward to was being outside alone. Similarly, spend some time with your books, Kindle is amazing but flipping pages of an actual book are even better!

Connect with people

Messenger, What’s an app, Snap chat, all of these are some of the best ways to spend time with your loved ones and have video calls and voice notes but sometimes all you need is to sit with someone and tell them your stories face to face and listen to theirs and connect emotionally rather than just connect socially medically.

Heightened senses

How many times have we not eaten properly and cooled our meals just so that we can get that perfect Instagram photo of our food, how many times have we missed sunsets just so because we were editing its picture and posting it on social media for people to see that we are outside today, how many jokes we missed and could not laugh on because we were busy chatting while our family sitting around us was having fun? Probably many times! Give it a break and have a perfectly enjoyable day for once where you don’t care about informing the world where you are or showing them what you are wearing and eating, just live!

Remain a mystery

Nobody really cares about what you have been doing every second, people see and forget; stop wasting your time on something that is so temporary. Let people not know about you, keep your life personal to a greater extent, show only when needed. Don’t choose regular for yourself, chose extraordinarily, show your life once in a while so that people value it and actually appreciate it rather than being an everyday stock for them.

Technology will keep improving with every passing day, work on a quality life rather than working according to technology. Showing off may be cool and the number of likes may give satisfaction for some time but on a permanent basis, they only give stress because all you care and think about is; how to increase followers? What to post next? How perfect this picture is? Who is going where so I should go too, these are all factors that strain you and drain you, just get out of this bubble some time and give yourself your own attention, not other peoples’ attention.
